DANCE

I started dancing in Richard Power's social dance classes at Stanford. Since then, I've danced at four Stanford Viennese Balls, joined the Viennese Ball Opening Committee, and most recently, joined the West Philly Swingers at Penn.

APPLYING TO MEDICAL SCHOOLS

The process of applying to medical schools is opaque, costly, and stressful. While I was studying for the MCAT, I wrote a set of notes that eventually became a short general guide for MCAT self-studying. In the interest of transparency, I documented all my costs, travels, and application results in a spreadsheet. I hope that these resources may be useful for anticipating the costs of applying to medical school. Feel free to share.

Do No Harm: How to prevent AI from perpetuating healthcare disparties
A short talk I gave on how technologies like image recognition are vulnerable to the biases we face every day in medicine. Unfortunately, the video quality isn't great.
Penn Medicine Antimicrobial Guidelines Website
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I met with the infectious diseases department to help them update their outdated antimicrobial guidelines website, due to increased traffic from physicians looking for COVID-19 treatment guidelines. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to finish this project, but you can explore what I had finished.
Google search interest versus latitude
I looked at correlating Google search trends against geographic latitude in the US for a small research project. The project fell through, but I thought it was a nice chance to learn R Shiny. It's a little buggy so you might want to refresh or click around a few times.
AMA risk calculator
With several other med students, I created this R Shiny app that estimates a patient's risk of leaving AMA from several patient and hospital characteristics, using a model based on 2016 HCUP NIS data. This project won 2nd place in a datathon hosted by MD++, a community of med students interested in tech, business, and life sciences.
THCA synthase Wikipedia page
A Wikipedia page I created for a biochemistry class on an enzyme that is part of the THC synthesis pathway.
